Making a card for another cardmaker is a nightmare!

I have a good friend with whom I go line dancing twice a week. It is her birthday coming up and I needed to make a card for her. No problem you may think, until you consider that that card will be going to another avid cardmaker! Always a challenge! I was determined to use a flower spray on my friend's card, so I thought the best way forward would be to choose which flowers I had in my stash, choose an image to stamp and then colour the image and pick the papers accordingly. I hope you like my effort - I made the box to match too, just to make it that bit more special (and the fact that with the flowers, the card wouldn't fit in an envelope!)

Entered into the following challenge:

Mother's Day and mum's birthday are very close together!

Determined to use up lots more of my stash, I found myself needing to make the Mother's Day card, and also a birthday card for my elderly mother. Looking through my "sentiments" drawer, and found a perfect Mother's Day sentiment and I managed to work backwards from that to come up with the bunny card below.

I also had the lovely large Boofle greeting which I thought my mum would like (she is young at heart!) And some patterned paper which came free with a magazine, a corner punch which I bought from that well-known auction site, and I came up with the easel card shown below. I hope you like my photos for today.

Wedding card commission

One of the girls I work with was a bridesmaid at a wedding recently. It's only now that I have found the photographs that I took of the card that time. The colour scheme was champagne, or mink as I was told. I therefore had a look through my stash to find something that would look appropriate. I did buy some ribbon, but everything else I had already. I hope you like what I came up with.

Using up more stash!

The thing about this cardmaking thing is that one seems to acquire no end of stash, which you buy because you like the look of it at the time, but then keep for years and not use and so it goes on......

I go the NEC in Birmingham every November with Cardmaking/crafty friends and it the one opportunity I have to buy buy buy! I have cash all year so that I don't feel guilty spending so much money in one day.

I have therefore come to the conclusion that I really need to de-stash, either by using, giving away or selling some of my stuff. The main space taking culprit is magazines. I have therefore had a harsh sort out. If I don't really like the free gift, I sell the magazine and free gift on that well known auction site. If I like the free gift but there is nothing that really strikes me in the magazine, I keep the gift and give the magazine to a charity shop. If there is something useful in the magazine that I want, template, tutorial or just really nice layout, I cut them out and keep them in an inspiration book. I have made more room this way, well a bit anyway!

These are the cards I have made recently, using up stuff in my stash. Hope you like them.

House full of plastic!

One thing about Christmas with two small children - once all the excitement as worn off, you just end up with a house full of plastic! I wouldn't mind if the children played with it all, I have nothing against children playing and making a mess (although it would be nice if they helped tidy up afterwards, alas, not to be!)

My little girl especially (who had her second birthday on New Year's Eve - yes, more plastic!) just likes to pull everything out then walks over it and goes off to find something else to trash. Her nickname in nursery is 'trasher monster' which sort of gives you an insight into what she likes to do!

I have found some time to make some cards though, it helps me unwind once the kids have gone toned. Please see below, and I hope you like them.

Getting sick of this Christmas malarky now!

Well I've made three more Christmas cards using up ancient free gifts from magazines, but my next blog post will be something different - promise!

Clearing more Christmas stash

I am determined to at least try and make enough Christmas cards this year so I won't have to buy any. I am sorry if these posts seem somewhat repetitive but I have to blog what I make so that I have photos of what I have made to refer back to at a later date.
