More Christmas!

I love this time of the year! The run in to Christmas, making cards, buying presents, planning everything to do with 'the lunch' I just love everything about it! I have already made a start on my cards but made a few more this last weekend. I can't claim that they are 'King Card Creations' originals because I have literally copied them out of magazines, I've substituted an element here and there but the are mostly copied. I still have a craft magazine 'habit' which I haven't fought very hard so I am currently working my way through the Making Cards Christmas Special. Need to make some room for my massive buying trip to the NEC on 8th November!

Ultimate Pro

During a recent visit to my in laws in Lincolnshire I treated myself to a Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro. I thought I may as well as I already had the Enveloper and Boxer Boards I 'needed' the Ultimate Pro to complete my set. I then bought two DVDs to teach me how to use my new toy. Below is what I made - hope you like them.

Time for Christmas!

A helpful friend on Facebook recently posted that there was only 20 Fridays to Christmas. Although I have already made about 9 Christmas cards, thought I had better make a bit more of an effort. Hope you like my card that I have made today. I have used an image that I bought at the craft show at the NEC last November, mounted on some handmade paper I had in my stash, onto a shaped card which I bought in The Works and topped off with a stamped sentiment from a Forever Friends stamp set I bought last year. Add a little bit of glittery glue and there you go!

Time to get organised

Regular followers will know that I am a great fan of trying to use up my stash. However, I have always struggled finding a good home for my scraps of card and paper. I found a blog the other day called Chaos in A Craft Room and I found a fantastic way of storing my scraps. So, after ordering myself a cropper hopper and some 12" x 12" zip lock bags from Amazon, off I went. All sorted and I have a tidy desk at last!

I found myself being a little creative after knowing where I could find everything and I made the cards below. Hope you like them.

My friend Sarah made the topper for the heart wedding card - she makes framed pictures too - check out her Facebook Page - it's called Eloquence

See you next week!

New home, new start!

When my best friend married my ex, loads of people thought that was weird! However, my friend and I have been friends for 40 years, my ex was just a fleeting romance 20 + years ago I had no problem with that. I recently went to their wedding, and they have now moved house. I therefore made the new home card you see below, hope you like it.

Not just cards!

While flicking through some card making magazines to dispose of them, I came across various paper crafting ideas. One of these was a cardboard decorated letter rack, so I decided to make one and sell it in our craft fair at work. Alas, it did not sell, but I like it! I'm going to keep it in good condition and try to sell it again at the work Christmas craft fair, telephone else fails, I can give it away! Maybe it's just rubbish, I had fun making it anyway!

Eventful week!

After having two lovely days off at the beginning of the week, with the sun shining, I was all set to return to work on the Wednesday. We went for evening meal as a family to our local restaurant (which shall remain nameless in case I get sued for libel!). Suffice to say my little boy was up all night Tuesday with sickness and diarrhoea and myself and my husband felt decidedly dodgy. I therefore had to take Wednesday off sick from work too and could not stray too far from the toilet! Eewww!
Back to work yesterday, I swear I didn't have a fortnight's work to do when I left the office last Thursday! A long conference today with QC and a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to discuss a dodgy knee op on a budding rugby star rounded up a rather varied week!
I did get chance to make the card below whilst my hubby was watching football and I sat at my craft desk merrily crafting away whilst watching 24 on Netflix and Boofle Birthday was born. I hope you like it. One more card to take into the office next week to sell for our charity craft sale to raise funds for our nominated charity of the year, Bobath, whom I hope you will agree is a worthy cause, helping children with Cerebral Palsy.
Have a good week!

Using up stash!

Like most crafters, I have a craft room/area that is overflowing with 'stuff' that I have bought or been given but am yet to use. This year, I have been on a mission to use up some of the items I have had for ages.

We have been lucky enough to have some beautiful weather and so I booked a day off work today. OK I admit the day off was actually for my son's sports day, but that was all over and done with in less than an hour which left the rest of the day free for me.

I did do some cross stitch this morning (another one of my hobbies!) whilst watching TV, but this afternoon I decided to go into my craft room. iPod on my docking station and and away to go. I hope you like what I have created today. So much stuff, so little time........

Christmas!

We have a craft fayre in work for our chosen charity of the year, Bobath, on the 4th July so I thought I would make a few cards to sell, but what do I make, a Christmas card! Now I struggle to make enough to send myself at Christmas so I am definitely not giving them away!
Do you ever just go into your craft room to 'have a play'? That is what I did today, I ended up getting out one of my old magazines and deciding to make one of the the cards with the free gift. Of course I didn't have all the stuff on the 'shopping list' so I had to improvise, but that's all part of the fun! And I suppose we are almost half way through the year already, so I'd better make a start on Christmas cards sooner or later!

Busy day in the forest

Didn't do any crafting on the weekend - because of the beautiful weather, we decided to go on a picnic at Forest Drive, Cwmcarn. When we got there we were very sad to learn that Forest Drive is closing in November because they have to fell no end of Larch trees because of disease. It is apparently not guaranteed that it will be reopened either because of funding issues. That would be a real shame, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

We all had a lovely day!

Making a card for another cardmaker is a nightmare!

I have a good friend with whom I go line dancing twice a week. It is her birthday coming up and I needed to make a card for her. No problem you may think, until you consider that that card will be going to another avid cardmaker! Always a challenge! I was determined to use a flower spray on my friend's card, so I thought the best way forward would be to choose which flowers I had in my stash, choose an image to stamp and then colour the image and pick the papers accordingly. I hope you like my effort - I made the box to match too, just to make it that bit more special (and the fact that with the flowers, the card wouldn't fit in an envelope!)

Entered into the following challenge:

Mother's Day and mum's birthday are very close together!

Determined to use up lots more of my stash, I found myself needing to make the Mother's Day card, and also a birthday card for my elderly mother. Looking through my "sentiments" drawer, and found a perfect Mother's Day sentiment and I managed to work backwards from that to come up with the bunny card below.

I also had the lovely large Boofle greeting which I thought my mum would like (she is young at heart!) And some patterned paper which came free with a magazine, a corner punch which I bought from that well-known auction site, and I came up with the easel card shown below. I hope you like my photos for today.

Wedding card commission

One of the girls I work with was a bridesmaid at a wedding recently. It's only now that I have found the photographs that I took of the card that time. The colour scheme was champagne, or mink as I was told. I therefore had a look through my stash to find something that would look appropriate. I did buy some ribbon, but everything else I had already. I hope you like what I came up with.

Using up more stash!

The thing about this cardmaking thing is that one seems to acquire no end of stash, which you buy because you like the look of it at the time, but then keep for years and not use and so it goes on......

I go the NEC in Birmingham every November with Cardmaking/crafty friends and it the one opportunity I have to buy buy buy! I have cash all year so that I don't feel guilty spending so much money in one day.

I have therefore come to the conclusion that I really need to de-stash, either by using, giving away or selling some of my stuff. The main space taking culprit is magazines. I have therefore had a harsh sort out. If I don't really like the free gift, I sell the magazine and free gift on that well known auction site. If I like the free gift but there is nothing that really strikes me in the magazine, I keep the gift and give the magazine to a charity shop. If there is something useful in the magazine that I want, template, tutorial or just really nice layout, I cut them out and keep them in an inspiration book. I have made more room this way, well a bit anyway!

These are the cards I have made recently, using up stuff in my stash. Hope you like them.
